Inclusion

This information portal provides mobility information for international artists who are planning to come to Austria and work here, either for a short term or permanently, as well as for Austrian artists who want to realise an international artistic project abroad. The special focus lies on inclusion as thematic interface: What should artists with special needs or specific impairments bear in mind when they want to travel abroad with an artistic project, what can they expect in Austria, and how does the Austrian system work in general? Which rules and regulations apply, and what kind of support or funding is there? Who are the contacts?

The following chapter will first briefly define the currently used terms inclusion and accessibility and set out the legal framework, before presenting the specific conditions of work and the specific problems inclusive artists and their assistants may be facing.

This chapter is directed in particular at artists with special needs or specific impairments. At the same time, it provides information for persons with special temporary needs or impairments, as well as for organisers and institutions. Moreover, it is aimed at an interested public.

Apart from all others, three articles in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) are most relevant in this context:

·        The right of participation in cultural life

·        The right to work and employment

·        The right to personal mobility
